Job Summary
The primary duties of the Assistant Coach, Women's Basketball, are to assist the head coach in the areas of recruiting/scouting, instructing, academic monitoring, player development, and additional responsibilities assigned by the head coach. This position fully complies with institutional, PBC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
INSTRUCTING STUDENT ATHLETES: Participate in and lead assigned elements of practices and games to include preparation, effective execution of drills, one-on-one development work with athletes as warranted, and fulfillment of game day responsibilities as assigned by the head coach. During practice sessions, the team is individually responsible for the program in the absence of the head coach.
RECRUITING/SCOUTING STUDENT ATHLETES TO MAINTAIN COMPETITIVENESS: Lead in the development of plans to successfully recruit prospective student-athletes for the women's basketball team according to Augusta University policies and departmental philosophies. Identify potential recruits and plan effective scouting and evaluation plans, and record keeping. Evaluate prospective student-athletes and, in conjunction with the head coach, execute recruitment plans to enroll desired prospects. Work with admissions and compliance to set official visit itineraries for prospective student-athletes in compliance with NCAA requirements. Develop a good relationship with coaches and contacts of high schools, junior colleges, clubs, and community-sponsored groups. Contact and evaluate local, state, national, and international perspective student athletes. Conduct official and unofficial visits on campus. Maintain knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules to pass the annual certification test. Coordinate recruiting efforts with the NCAA Compliance Officer as required.
ACADEMIC MONITORING OF STUDENT ATHLETES: Review academic progress reports of each professor in a timely manner, consistent with the athletic departmental procedure. Maintain a level of academic sensitivity toward class absenteeism and monitor academic progress.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES ASSIGNED BY HEAD COACH (COULD INCLUDE): Directly responsible for ensuring that all administrative requirements for the team are effectively carried out in the areas of: team travel arrangements and itineraries; equipment and uniform purchases; and, in conjunction with the head coach, develop plans to successfully engage in fundraising, promotional, and community service activities. Work in conjunction with the head coach to design and implement targeted developmental programs appropriate to the specific athletic needs of the women's basketball program. Work with the head coach to develop strategies for character building and team building. Responsible for all aspects of the program in the absence of the head coach, planning team travel, and structuring team activities.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline with a minimum of one year of related experience in coaching women's basketball. CPR certification must be completed within two months of hire. Valid state driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
Coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level is highly desirable and a plus. Knowledge of NCAA & PBC rules and regulations.

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
