Assistant/Associate Director of Applied Health and Performance Science

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking an Assistant/Associate Director of Applied Health and Performance Science. This position will support Penn State Olympic varsity sports by providing leadership in the development of student athlete performance, health, and well-being through communication, collaboration between departments, integration of monitoring and decision-making systems, and high-performance education for best practices in sport performance.

Primary responsibilities include assisting in the growth and development of an inclusive high-performance culture, decisions related to athlete development, implementation and management of performance technology systems, sport performance lab testing, performance education delivery, collaborating with sport and performance coaches, and the development and leadership within the performance internship program. Additionally, other duties may be assigned based by the Assistant Athletic Director for Applied Health and Performance Science - these duties will be based upon departmental need and personnel skillset/interest.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred as is a passion to continue to learn and teach others. Experience in all areas of sport performance, long-term athlete development, physical and mental development of student athletes, and basic technical/tactical understanding of team and individual sport at the University level is required. This role requires strong communication skills across multiple disciplines in intercollegiate athletics and the university setting.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position also requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
