JOB SUMMARY

Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking qualified part time instructors. All instructor positions require two or more years of work experience; college teaching experience and industry certifications are preferred.

This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future part-time faculty vacancies. The college hires part-time faculty on a quarter by quarter basis, dependent on enrollment. If you're selected for an interview for a potential future vacancy, a college representative will contact you.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and teach an upper division course(s) appropriate to the transportation, logistics and supply chain program curriculum in a manner that supports student attainment of course and program outcomes
  • Develop and teach lessons that equitably allow all students to succeed
  • Develop and maintain classroom and lab procedures, including safety, that follow local,
    state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate
    instructional means, including but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and
    materials that support the instructional process; evaluate student progress, maintain
    appropriate records, and provide clear, timely feedback; deal consistently and fairly with all students
  • Use current college online learning management and data reporting systems Attend
    department meetings when necessary
  • Work with college counselors, disability services staff, and others to enhance student
    achievement
  • Maintain regular office hours if assigned
  • Assess program and student learning outcomes
  • Support program activities, events and recruitment
  • Post the class syllabus and students' grades via the online course system (currently Canvas)

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Transportation and/or Logistics Management, or Supply Chain or in a closely related discipline, is required. Law degree or Doctorate is preferred.
  • Three years successful full-time industry experience required in the transportation/ logistics/supply chain field
  • One year teaching or training experience required; recent college teaching experience and experience with various teaching methods preferred
  • Industry activity, leadership, and participation strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and customer service skills required.
  • Competent use of computing resources and Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with online learning platforms and or willingness to learn current platform (Canvas). All courses are taught as hybrid, in the evening and/or weekend, willingness to perform in this environment is necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff, and community from diverse backgrounds, including non-English languages, and a commitment to a culturally diverse work environment preferred
  • Previous experience with an online course system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Sakai, Moodle) preferred

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Compensation
Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience.

Once part-time faculty have worked 50% full-time or more for two consecutive quarters(with LWTech or combined with other community/technical colleges), Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability and other insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board, State Retirement Plan and a Deferred Compensation Plan; sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) effective upon employment.
