Position Description
Assists in providing leadership and direction for an assigned area within the athletics department. Responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of the department. Responsible for employees in the assigned area.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Generates new and creative ways to market Texas Tech and tell our story.
  • Oversees our marketing and advertising spending with a heavy emphasis on digital promotion and the best ways to maximize revenue.
  • Promotes the Texas Tech brand to increase attendance, generate revenue, maximize the game-day fan experience, and assist with sponsorship development and fulfillment.
  • Develops marketing plans, ticket sales strategies, and game promotions.
  • Works with graphic artists and the entire creative team to develop promotional advertisements to target students, alumni, faculty and staff, and local communities to promote Texas Tech Athletics.
  • Oversees assistant athletics director for marketing and fan engagement, who coordinates and supervises all in-game, half-time, and special event promotion.
  • Plan, design, and execution of strategies to improve fan engagement and the overall gameday environment.
  • Unit is responsible for the development of Game-Day marketing scripts and timelines.
  • Provides support at external and special events to promote the Athletics Department.
  • Works with campus and external partners to oversee Raider Alley and student tailgate experience.
  • Acts as a point of contact/facilitator for community outreach initiatives created by this unit.
  • Coordinates the production and distribution of needed promotional materials for assigned sports.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Five (5) years progressively responsible leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics administration. Must have thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of full-time demonstrated experience in communications, creative services, graphic design, oversight, marketing, promotions, and select revenue-generating areas in athletics/sports management.
  • Understanding of venue relations/venue management.
  • Computer, collaboration, graphic design, game production (scripts, audio, video, etc.), strategic social media management, and brand management experience required.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create and maintain specific timelines.
  • Working knowledge of marketing and research techniques and methods. Ability to apply market research to identify communication needs and target audiences.
  • Ability to design marketing materials, proficient in using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and mentor marketing, game operations, and spirit squad staff/members.
  • Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to traditional business hours, is required.
  • Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.
