East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for Student Success (AAD)!  Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Associate Director of Athletics for Student Success (AAD), you will need to think creatively and be comfortable ensuring University compliance with applicable NCAA, athletics conferences, and University rules and regulations governing all facets of intercollegiate athletics programs. You will be an active member of the Athletics team and will work closely with the Director of Athletics to establish policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of the development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of individual educational goals and the health and wellness of student-athletes. This is a 12-month Tenure Track Administrative Faculty position. Based on the needs of the business, overnight travel and the ability to work a varied schedule is necessary. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU Athletic operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Assist in the overall direction, management and monitoring of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, including assisting in strategic planning for the Department of Athletics.

  • Serve as primary sport administrator for assigned sports and serve as primary designee for all intercollegiate athletics matters in the absence of the AD or as designated by the AD or University President. Assist with game management by serving as the administrator on-site for home events of assigned sports.

  • Provide strong leadership and fiscal responsibility in the administration of the Department of Athletics to ensure effective and efficient use of personnel and financial resources. Administer department funds and accounts in compliance with state, public funds, university, ESU Foundation and SSA fiscal policies.

  • Work collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches and staff along with the University's Title IX/DHR office to ensure training, education and effective communication of Title IX and gender equity laws, regulations, rules and policies.

  • Research, design, and implement best practices and comprehensive programming to promote student well-being and enhance the student-athlete experience and overall culture of the department (academic advising, mentoring programs, orientation planning, student-athlete success, leadership/development programming). This includes developing and maintaining metrics to evaluate and advance the academic success of student-athletes.

  • Oversee the academic success program, including, but not limited to maintenance of academic profiles, communication with coaches and faculty on academic progress of student-athletes, preparation of academic success reports and class scheduling.

  • Work collaboratively with faculty and department advisors to ensure that student-athletes understand academic requirements (program degree, general education NCAA DII progress toward degree, etc.). Provide leadership on behalf of athletics to university assessment procedures and represents athletics on university assessment committees.

  • Serve as primary point of contact and compliance liaison for student-athletes involved in complex compliance situations. Work collaboratively with compliance officer to resolve issues that require face-to-face interactions with student-athletes.

  • Serve as the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID) and act as primary contact for information related to national and campus level matters, ensuring that Athletics' diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and initiatives are embedded throughout all levels of the department. This position may serve as the Senior Woman Administrator.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Master's degree and 5 years NCAA intercollegiate athletics administration experience or other similar experience required.

  • 7+ years of intercollegiate athletic administration experience in a successful NCAA athletic program/conference/league preferred.

  • 7+ years of Progressive athletic administrative experience in an NCAA environment preferred.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in ethical leadership, written and oral communication, relationship and consensus building skills, planning and organization, resource management, cultural competency, as well as friend and fundraising.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the advancement of the East Stroudsburg University's mission, community principles and strategic plan, continued scholarly growth and service to the department, university and community.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and utilize current electronic and office technologies, such as Microsoft Suite, Banner, etc.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of constituent groups.

  • Must have a valid driver's license to travel to athletic competitions and events on a regular basis and operation of athletic department vehicles
