General Manager for Pegula Ice Arena

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking a General Manager for Pegula Ice Arena. The General Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of Pegula Ice Arena including the following:

Facilities management
Business operations
Marketing
Venue programing
Safety and security
Hiring, training, and leading a customer-oriented staff
Developing event action plans, incident action plans, staff roles and responsibilities
Coordinating with supporting agencies including law enforcement, parking, transportation, physical plant, emergency medical services, private security, and others

The General Manager serves as the event manager for Men's and Women's Division 1 Hockey and has direct oversight for the ushers, gate attendants, door guards, elevator personnel, etc. In addition, the General Manager is responsible for pursuing, planning, organizing, and successfully delivering non-athletic events in Pegula Ice Arena with a vision of maximizing revenue in support of our student athletes.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must work well in a collaborative environment and have a passion for customer service with a particular orientation to students. Experience managing a Division 1 or Professional Hockey Arena is highly preferred. Certified Sport Security Professionals, Certified Facility Managers, or other related certifications are preferred. Essential skill set must include: excellent communication and facilitation skills; a knowledge and understanding of crowd dynamics, crowd behaviors, and crowd control; an understanding of safety and security including Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS); an understanding of physical plant operations; ability to think strategically and tactically; and ability to plan, budget, manage and prioritize expenditures.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required.
