The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is searching for a Manager of the Retriever Activities Center. Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director/P.E. & Recreation and working closely with Professional and Student Recreation staff, the incumbent will manage and supervise all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the Retriever Activities Center and assist in the operation of the Recreation program.



Specific Duties Include:

  • The Manager will manage and supervise all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the Retriever Activities Center (RAC) and assist in the operation of the Recreation program

  • Hiring, scheduling, and supervising Equipment Room Specialist and recreation student staff

  • Providing customer service to students, staff, and community members

  • Recreation scheduling, planning, and documenting work

  • Coordinating work with facilities and campus police in following safety codes and procedures

  • Managing the entire RAC including but not limited to recreation courts, fitness studio, weight room, and aquatics facility daily

  • Updating the recreation website

  • Opening and closing the building based on varying schedules

  • Serving as the scheduling coordinator for 25Live and as liaison to the Office of Events and Conference Services

  • Assisting with locker rentals


Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of managerial experience, preferably within the Athletics/Recreation field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in large athletic facilities including an aquatics area, weight room, indoor track, and fitness studio is preferred. CPR, AED, First Aid, and Pool Operator Certificates are preferred. A background check will be required.
